I haven't posted about the game yet, so I'll go ahead and do it now.
To the fans, cheerleaders, assistants, friends, and families: The way you support the players is amazing. I've never seen another high school that remotely compares to Wayne. It's not just local, Wayne is known all over for the support the players get and the way you will travel anywhere to watch your Pioneers. I ran into people last night before the game that were from Wheeling that had nothing but positive things to say about our little town, our program, and our fan support. I just hope all teams can get the type of support the football team gets. They work just as hard, try to remember that.
To the seniors. I know nothing can change how you feel right now, but when you look back on what you did at Wayne, you'll always be proud. Look at it this way, on the drive to Wheeling you probably passed 50 high schools that would give anything to make it to ONE state championship game, let alone three. Most teams consider a home playoff game a huge deal, but not at Wayne. That's just the typical season, and it's because of you and all the work you put in. You bring this program to a level most could never dream of. I remember the days when I would have given anything to be "The next Bluefield" and now it's the other way around. They'd love to be at the level Wayne is year in and year out. To win a state championship in 2 of your 4 years of high school is amazing, and you'll never forget it. Thank you for making this little town proud.
The guys coming back: This game is going to eat at you until August. You have a choice. You can either be negative about the way the game went, or you can use it as motivation for next season. You're Wayne Pioneers and I already know which is going to happen. You'll be bigger, stronger, and faster in 2014. Anytime you feel like you don't feel like staying to lift, remember the feeling you had as the game ended last night. Remember watching Bridgeport celebrate, and push yourselves to become even better. I have no doubt in my mind you'll be in Wheeling in 2014 as a more hungry, and angry team ready to take back what is rightfully yours. Get it!
Pioneer Proud. All day. Everyday.
